The College of Employment Services (CES) curriculum is tailored to employment professionals who work alongside people with disabilities who are seeking competitive integrated employment opportunities. CES promotes a person-centered approach to employment services, honoring individual choices for jobs and careers.
The CES curriculum is approved and accredited by the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE). Learn more about how to obtain ACRE certification using CES.
CES also follows the national competencies developed by APSE. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credits are available to those who have their CRC Certification.

This curriculum is written by staff at the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. For nearly 60 years, ICI has partnered with people with disabilities, their families, and communities to advocate for personal choice, self-determination, and social and economic justice.
CES Plus
ACRE-Approved Training
Obtaining an ACRE certification is a 2-part process, and both Part 1 and Part 2 are 100% remote and self-paced.
What is the College of Employment Servics (CES) ACRE Training Series?
The CES ACRE Training Series is a self-guided training that includes 11 CES courses plus activities and fieldwork. Learners who complete the CES ACRE Training Series will receive the ACRE Certificate and be listed on the Certificate Registry on the ACRE website. CES ACRE is a 2-part Training Series. Learners must complete Part 1 and Part 2 to achieve an ACRE certification.
- Part 1:
- Contact Elsevier to subscribe to the CES curriculum set
- Complete 11 ACRE-approved CES courses and pass each lesson with a score of 80% or higher.
- Part 2:
- Complete the ACRE Fieldwork Course, which contains 12–15 hours of supplemental activities accessed via an online learning platform led by ICI staff
- Contact the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts Boston to enroll in the online Fieldwork Course needed to earn an ACRE certificate:
- Complete community-based fieldwork assignments that align with work employment professionals are already doing
- Contribute to discussion forums
- Analyze and respond to realistic client scenarios
After successfully completing this 2-part CES ACRE Training Series, learners will earn the nationally recognized ACRE Certificate.
