New CES Course Builds Career Development Opportunities
Posted on by JeniseThe Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston (ICI), content developer for the DirectCourse College of Employment Services (CES) online curriculum, recently released a new online course, Principles of Career Development. Through six lessons, learners will acquire key skills and strategies to help people with disabilities not only overcome barriers to employment. The course also instructs employment professionals on ways clients can develop long-term careers and economic self-sufficiency.
“America is a career-focused country,” says course author Rick Kugler, Training Associate at the ICI. “Too often we focus just on simply finding a job for adults with barriers to employment, when we should also encourage skills that help people to develop a career. From a career you can build an independent life.”
Like all CES courses, Principles of Career Development is based on the competencies established through the ACRE certification and the APSE Certified Employment Support Professional Credential (CESP).
